Production of Biodiesel Kit

With the Production of Biodiesel Kit, students use a two-phase process to produce small batches of crude biodiesel. Experiment with your crude biodiesel fuel to show the burning qualities of biodiesel and vegetable oil.

An optional small-scale exercise allows students to use a washing procedure. This activity simulates the full process of producing biodiesel of the quality levels necessary for vehicle use.

The Production of Biodiesel Kit, from Innovating Science, contains enough materials for 5 groups of students. Teacher’s Manual and Student Study Guide copymasters are included.

You provide an assortment of lab items: 250 ml beakers, 25 ml graduated cylinder, 250 ml graduated cylinder, thermometers, hot plate/stirrers, balance, parafilm, pipettes, separatory funnel, and wash bottles.
