Full-time: Typical work hours Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Competitive salary DOE. Reports directly to Director of Marketing. Digital Product Designer reports to Director of Marketing
PURPOSE:
This hands-on, collaborative role strengthens our web experiences while elevating our products appeal in a competitive marketplace. Produces remarkable online visual designs and engaging product assets that inspire and delight our customers—from web pages to marketing assets to product videos (i.e., including product, gif’s, animations, etc.). This position’s scope spans visual, interactive, product, and creative direction to support strong product conversions in both new and existing product categories while continuously improving the user experience across our store/subdomain.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
VISUAL PRODUCT MARKETING
- Distills product vision into clear features, solving real problems and increasing value for our customers.
- Conceptualizes, plans and creates product digital assets from ideation and discovery to product launch including:
- Product photography (ex: step-by-step processes, unboxing, 4D, gif’s, etc.)
- Product videography (ex: unboxing, hands-on experiments, etc.)
- Develops visuals needed for marketing of our products (in collaboration with the team) for channels, such as YouTube, marketplaces, search, landing pages, etc.
- Focuses on continually improving the product display environment.
VIDEOGRAPHY AND PHOTOGRAPHY
- Conceptualizes and creates video and photo assets that tell the HST story and communicate the brand and core message to engage target audiences.
- Develops photos and videos needed to make our acquisition, engagement and product marketing campaigns highly effective and engaging.
- Creates and manages internal tracking system for managing and utilizing all product images, photographs, videos, and other digital assets.
- Owns conceptual development, creation and delivery of creative product visuals including but not limited to videos, gifs and animations.
- Implements a cohesive visual style and systematic, integrated approach to product and marketing asset design.
USER EXPERIENCE/USER INTERFACE
- Stays up to date on latest product merchandising trends and web UX best practices
- Researches, develops and maintains digital product merchandising best practices and strategies to enhance user experience and drive conversion goals
- Works closely with Marketing, Customer Success, Purchasing, Product Development, external web agencies and our customers to understand and eliminate pain points
- Analyzes online customer behavior data and insights to improve customer journeys, reduce bounce rates, increase conversions and retentions/LTV.
- Ensures the four aspects of UX are well integrated into all product merchandising:
- Utility: helping users to choose and buy the products they need.
- Usability: making the customer journey clear and easy, without unnecessary clicks, time lost on loading overloaded pages or inconvenient navigation, etc.
- Accessibility: allows users of all abilities to understand, use and enjoy the HST website
- Desirability: brings both the store and Resource Center to life by delivering enjoyable online experiences that are measured and drive strong KPIs.
BEHAVIORAL MARKETING
- Define, implement, and manage behavioral marketing strategy and tactics to support marketing strategy, user experience, customer journey, marketing campaigns and promotions.
- Ensure full use of behavioral marketing platform functionality and integration with website and email.
- Builds, develops and maintains fun, interactive quizzes, infographics, etc. that engage online visitors and deepen their interest and/or connection with HST.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in UX, product marketing, digital merchandising, marketing and creative environments.
- Understanding of performance-based marketing strategies.
- Use research to challenge and validate design decisions in an ongoing development process that strives to make the customer experience better.
- Excellent proficiency using Word Press and e-commerce platforms.
- Expertise in customer behavioral analysis and journey mapping.
- Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong writing skills preferred; video production and photography required.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Highly organized with methodical approach to production processes, file organization and maintenance.
- Ability to translate and synthesize highly-technical information into strategic marketing messages through visual storytelling.
- Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously, under deadline pressure with fast turn arounds.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to adhere to brand standards and follow approval processes.
- Experience using the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, particularly Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator. Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
- General interest in science and/or education is preferred.

- Located in Billings, Montana
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Auditory ability to listen attentively in a busy office environment
- Good close, distance and peripheral vision
- Ability to handle stressful situations such as dealing with conflict in respectful manner
